Mumbai Police Denies Permission for CJP October 2 Protest, Says Abhijeet Dipke

Mumbai, September 27, 2026: Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke has said that Mumbai Police has denied permission for the organisation's proposed protest in Mumbai on October 2, Gandhi Jayanti.

According to Dipke, the CJP had planned to launch a nationwide protest from Mumbai over its demands concerning Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and reforms related to the Election Commission.

In a post on X on Sunday, Dipke said the denial of permission was unacceptable and warned that the organisation could launch a “Jail Bharo Andolan” in Mumbai on Gandhi Jayanti if it is prevented from holding the protest.

CJP's October 2 Protest Plan

CJP had earlier announced that it would begin a nationwide agitation from Mumbai on October 2 if Gyanesh Kumar did not step down as Chief Election Commissioner. The organisation has also raised demands related to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and changes to the legal framework governing the Election Commission.

The proposed Mumbai venue had not been finally confirmed. A Times of India report said Azad Maidan was being considered, while the organisation continued efforts to obtain police permission.

What Happens Next?

The reported denial of permission leaves the status and location of the proposed October 2 demonstration uncertain. Dipke has indicated that CJP may proceed with further agitation if the organisation is not allowed to hold the protest.

Mumbai Police's official procedures state that organisers seeking permission for processions are required to submit applications in advance and comply with conditions set by the police authorities.

DIT Media Network will continue to follow developments concerning the proposed October 2 protest and any official response from Mumbai Police or CJP.
